The office in which I am working this week has a TV screen on the wall tuned, with the sound turned down, to BBC News 24. So today has been enlivened by noticing, as I look up from my computer screen, the changing nature of the captions along the bottom. I admit, a smile did cross my lips as during the course of the day the captions changed from "Tory Hospital Campaign" to "Tory Hospital Apology".
I come home to Channel 4 headlines of "Cameron accused of amateurish relaunch" and my smile becomes a laugh.
Now I do have a smidgen of sympathy for a politician caught in the grip of the over mighty news cycle. I do wonder how much of this really is Tory cock-up as opposed to a media slavishly stuck to a particular story line and the stirring of the Labour spin machine. I also wonder whether anyone will end the day better informed about the development of health policy in this country. But these gentle gnawing's of doubt are soon overwhelmed by the sheer joy of watching Cameron continue to crash and burn.
Who says politics isn't a great spectator sport!

Blog changes
Partly inspired by this blog being ranked and rated I've today made a few changes to spruce things up a bit.
I've added a new 'blogroll' section to highlight websites that are relevant to Luton.
I've added labels to my posts so now you can browse through the archive by subject, if you so wish.
I've also added links to two new blogs:

I've also added links to two new blogs:
The first is to a former Lib Dem councillor and work colleague Martin Howes' blog, Business in Luton.
The second is the blog of Jeremy Hargreaves which regularly has intelligent and insightful comment on the Liberal Democrats and their policy making. Now is a particularly good time to visit Jeremy's blog as one of his recent posts is a piece responding to David Boyle's latest article in Liberator which has begun a valuable discussion in the comments.

Ranked and rated
This is blog has come 53rd (jointly with 4 others) on Stephen Tall's list of "My top 100 Lib Dem blogs". Not bad really considering the other blogs that are out there. I'm quite pleased. :-)

"File on 4" on ID cards
If there is a single issue that is likely to give Lib Dem MPs the opportunity to jump around shouting "I told you so!" then ID cards are that issue.
The latest edition of Radio 4's documentary programme "File on 4" gives us some of the reasons why.
